Bathrooms are so often unthought of and understaged in a seller’s home. Maybe because they’re typically one of the smallest areas of the home per square foot. Or perhaps we just think of them as white, cold, sterile places and nothing more. Whatever the reason, you, the home seller, should not underestimate their value or potential. There’s much that can be done to decorate and breathe new life into them while on a budget. Here are five tips to help you do just that.
1. Paint it up!
Never underestimate how a warm coat of paint can liven up a room. And painting a small room shouldn’t break your bank if you do it yourself. Consider painting your towel rack and toilet paper holder to add some pop to the room.
2. Add Mirrors.
Not only are mirrors useful, but they seemingly add space to a typically small room. They also can withstand a damp, cold environment better than a small painting or piece of art would.
3. Replace Plumbing Accessories.
Another way to brighten a bathroom is by replacing an old, spotted sink or bath faucet or showerhead. Doing so can make your whole bathroom look a lot newer and more contemporary. Yes, this is a pricier option, but a worthy investment.
4. Coordinate Linens.
Matching your towels, linens, shower curtain, trash can, and accessories can really pull the whole bathroom together. You’ll achieve a cheerful appearance and make a positive impression on potential buyers.
5. Add a small piece of furniture or plants.
If your bathroom is big enough, consider getting a few small pieces of furniture like a stool, an old table to hold towels and linens, or a small plant to add color. Of course, this is optional but can really give the bathroom a lift!
