When you have your home for sale, ideally, you want to keep it show-ready. But, for most of us, day-to-day life often gets in the way.
Sometimes, prospective buyers are just around the corner and you won’t have much time. When that happens, you’ll need a quick plan to get your home show-ready.
Here are some tips for quickly pulling your home together when someone’s popping over to view it.
Bedrooms:
Make the beds. For a quick fix, put everything in a hamper and just straighten the comforter.
Toss all the clutter and toys into an empty drawer or laundry basket. Shove the basket in a closet or your car to deal with later.
Bathrooms:
Shut all toilet lids.
Give the counters and sink a quick wipe down with a damp cloth.
Kitchen:
Take the garbage out; again, stick it in your trunk if you need to.
Are breakfast dishes still in the sink? Shove them in the dishwasher. No dishwasher? Grab a basket and put them in the car for now.
Don’t forget to turn on all the lights and open the curtains.
Floors:
Vacuum all the carpets. If you have a larger home, you might only have time for the high-traffic areas.
Use a Swiffer on all hard-surface floors.
Bathrooms:
Clean the mirrors, wipe down the toilets and the tubs.
Kitchen:
Wipe down the counters, cabinets, and sink.
Entryway:
Make sure the path is free of debris. Sweep the walkway.
By following these short steps, you’ll be able to quickly pull your home together for a last-minute showing. If you have a little more time, you can tackle this short list and add in a few more items.
